From the organizer
This summer long camp is for participants that are in 6th -12th grade. A PHYSICAL IS REQUIRED form within the last 12 months . The purpose of the program is to educate all participants about the developmental process of running and racing at a high level. This program is beneficial to both the beginner runner as well as the advanced runner. We have runners of all levels and you will be grouped with other runners similar to your abilities. The Cross Country Preparation Program will expose the participants to the education, physical training, and most importantly, motivation that will jump start their season and to help them achieve their goals. The physical training will be designed to enhance the runners’ endurance base as they continue their pre-season training. We hope that these, combined with lots of motivation and fun, will lead our participants to success in the fall Cross Country season and Spring Track season. This is an excellent preparation for the season that will begin in a few short weeks. Student-Athletes from any sport are welcome to come train.
Please note that this camp is not intended to keep the student-athletes from participating in their normal summer activities, vacations, or other annual camps that they do. It is normal for kids to come and go for their other events. But of course the more that they are there, the more benefits that they will see (consistency is the key). If you will be missing any extended days, it is perfectly ok and normal for our summer camp and I can provide ideas and tips to stay active while away.
Summer workouts start on June 8th and end on July 24th. We meet Monday - Friday all summer except the week oh July 4th (June 29th - July 4th) . Daily camp workouts start at 6:30 am and end just about 8:00 am. Camp will take place at the Coles Crossing Community Center trails off of Barker Cypress. Once you enter into the community center parking lot, we will meet under the trees near the jogging trail. Parents are welcome to walk the trails while their kids are participating in workouts. Please bring a towel daily for stretching and core work, bring plenty of water, and be ready to work hard and get better daily. Once the summer camp begins, we will send out a group code to join our text list in case we have to cancel due to the weather. This training camp is perfect to be a part of in that you will be around at least 100 other runners similar to your age wo have the same goals as you do. Having others to run with is essential to making your fitness journey a success.
Please bring your own water daily (plenty), your own towel daily, and wear proper workout attire daily.
Please note that participation in this summer training program is simply to benefit the participant and in no way is in conjunction with the Cy Woods Cross Country program or any CFISD program. This is an outside program that has no association with CFISD in any way. By participating in this program, the participant is not guaranteed any position on any team and it is not used to determine what team a participant may end up on if they participate in any CFISD program.
