Join the 59th Annual Al Briede Gold Cup, a 5K and Half Mile event honoring a legendary New Orleans athlete and community leader. Held at the historic and beautiful Metairie Cemetery, this race offers a unique setting for runners and walkers of all abilities. Your participation supports the Al Briede Gold Cup Foundation, providing scholarships to local high school students and aiding the New Orleans Track Club. It's a wonderful opportunity to get active, enjoy the fall weather, and contribute to a worthy cause in the community.

What to expect

Run or walk a 5K or Half Mile course through the historic Metairie Cemetery. Enjoy post-race refreshments including Blue Runner Red Beans and beer. Open to all speeds and abilities, including walkers.

Celebrate a Legend

Join us on Sunday, September 13, 2026, for the 59th Annual Al Briede Gold Cup, a 5K and Half Mile race that honors the memory of a legendary New Orleans athlete and community leader. The race will be held at the historic Metairie Cemetery, one of the largest and most beautiful cemeteries in the city. Proceeds from the race benefit the Al Briede Gold Cup Foundation, which provides scholarships to local high school students and supports the New Orleans Track Club.

Participants who register on race day are not guaranteed a race giveaway.
