From the organizer
The Miles for Melanoma 5K is more than just a race — it’s an opportunity for us to show support for an amazing father, husband, coach, and person: Stephen Champlin.
Join us at Broadford Park in Oakland, Maryland, a beautiful lakeside park that is shaded and perfect for the 5K. Feel free to stay afterwards, enjoy the playgrounds, and make a day out of it!
We hope all of Stephen’s family, friends, sports teams, and kids he has coached over the years will be able to join us. The morning will begin with a prayer for Stephen, showing him just how much he is loved and that we are all standing with him in this fight.
Through treatments and the toughest days, Steve continues to show up for his family and his teams. He leads, encourages, and inspires all of us. Now, it’s our turn to show up for him.
This special event is organized by Bentley Wise, Steve's 9-year-old nephew, who wanted to do something meaningful to support his Uncle Steve. Bentley is leading this effort to make sure his uncle knows he is not fighting alone.
Whether you run, walk, or cheer from the sidelines, your presence matters. Let’s fill Broadford Park with encouragement, hope, and love for Steve and his family.
All proceeds will go to the Champlin family and toward melanoma research.
Let’s show Uncle Steve how much we care. Let’s stand beside him in this fight. Champlin Strong!
