Race day (AI-assisted text)
Race day kicks off early with the 1-Mile Fun Run at 8:00 AM, followed by the 5K and 15K at 8:30 AM, announced by a cannon fire! Packet pickup details aren't specified, but expect a bustling start line on Michigan Street, near the KFC parking lot, given the festival's scale. The 5K and 15K courses follow the parade route, promising an energetic crowd of up to 50,000 spectators. Strollers are permitted in the main races, adding to the family-friendly feel, though pets are not.
Best for (AI-assisted text)
This event is perfect for runners who love a festive atmosphere and want to combine their race with a larger community celebration. It's ideal for families, with a dedicated Fun Run, and also offers competitive distances for those looking to push themselves. Runners who enjoy spectator support and a lively course will thrive here.
Personality (AI-assisted text)
The Blueberry Stomp exudes a warm, community-oriented personality, deeply intertwined with the joy of the Blueberry Festival. It's an inviting event that balances the excitement of competition with the relaxed, celebratory feel of a holiday weekend. The presence of a charity beneficiary adds a heartfelt touch, making it feel like a collective effort for a good cause.
Weather snapshot (AI-assisted text)
Early September in Plymouth, Indiana, typically brings pleasant late-summer or early-fall weather. Runners can generally expect mild temperatures, possibly in the 60s or low 70s Fahrenheit, which is quite comfortable for racing. Humidity might still be a factor, but it's usually less oppressive than mid-summer. It's always wise to check the forecast closer to race day for any unexpected heat or rain.
Terrain & course feel (AI-assisted text)
The courses are described as "out-and-back tree-lined" and following the "Blueberry Parade route through residential Plymouth." This strongly suggests a paved, relatively flat urban or suburban road course. While specific elevation isn't mentioned, parade routes are generally designed to be accessible, so significant hills are unlikely. Runners can anticipate a smooth, consistent surface.
