Brian Galusha was born and raised in Eastern Iowa. He graduated from East Central High School in Miles, IA, and attended Clinton Community College and the University of Maryland before joining the US Army Military Police. After the army, he was a farmer in the area until he decided to devote himself to education and coaching. Over time, he coached baseball and football; he especially loved coaching track and cross country, as he was a marathon runner himself. He qualified twice for the Boston Marathon, and was a torch bearer for the 2002 Winter Olympics. In education, he fought for all students no matter the situation, and believed everyone should have the opportunity to better themselves. The funds from the Brian Galusha Memorial scholarship are being used in that spirit, going to students at the institutions he worked with, helping them to grow in their education.
