The 17th annual Caliente Bare Dare 5K is the premier clothing-optional race in North America, held at the beautiful Caliente Resort, the most upscale clothing-optional destination in the USA. Make a promise to yourself this year to finally run North America's biggest bucket-list, destination race, party event in endurance sports.
The Caliente Bare Dare 5K is the hottest race in Florida! Not literally as early spring temperatures in the Tampa area are ideal for running. Caliente is Spanish for "hot" and this is one event where you can leave the running clothes at home and spend the day at the most upscale clothing-optional resort in North America -- all for the price of your 5K entry fee.
This annual event, which began in 2010, has become one of the most talked about among Florida runners. We offer a scenic one-loop course among the beautiful gated community of Caliente, along with custom awards for the top 20 female and top 20 male finishers. We welcome runners of all levels - you can even walk the event - but the race attracts elite athletes. The course records of 15:49 (male) and 17:57 (female) are comparable to those of much larger races.
The race is just the beginning of your day at Caliente. Wear as much or as little as you like for the race - shoes required and sunscreen highly recommended - and then spend the rest of the day at this destination resort. Sundays are always a good time at Caliente, with music played poolside and the party goes on all day.
Caliente is located in Land O'Lakes, Fla., just north of Tampa in Pasco County, known as Florida's Sports Coast for its many sports and recreation attractions and events. Caliente features a 30,000-square-foot clubhouse with four bars, nightclub, and fitness center. Its massive lagoon-style pool with waterfall is the centerpiece of a Caribbean-style resort that includes three other pools.
The 5K course wraps around Caliente's beautiful grounds, along running trails and lakes before you cross the finish line at the foot of the Caliente clubhouse. A post-race celebration will begin shortly thereafter alongside Caliente's massive lagoon pool!
Please note: We do not post results or participants of this race online or anywhere else. We’ve found that many runners have no problem with having their names posted online as participants of a clothing-optional run on race sites that list finishing times. But some people object for understandable reasons: privacy, job concerns, or just not wanting to deal with grief from friends not brave enough to race themselves. Rather than sort this out, we opt not to post results.
FAQs
Q: Is access to Caliente included in my race entry?
A: YES! All-day access is included in your race entry, making the Caliente Bare Dare 5K perhaps the best value in endurance sports.
Q: What do you do about race numbers since it's a nude race?
A: We provide wristbands that will ID you as a paid race participant and also provide all-day access to Caliente.
Q: Since the Caliente Bare Dare 5K does not post results, how will I know my time?
A: We have a large race clock at the finish line. Please take note of your time as you cross the finish.
Q: Do you give medals?
A: No medals. We give custom awards for the top 20 male and top 20 female finishers. Between those awards, custom T-shirts or towels, all-day access to Caliente, and a bucket-list event rated among the best races in North America, we believe this is among the best values in endurance sports.
Q: Where do I put my keys?
A: Caliente has a locker room - co-ed - but you must provide your own lock.
Q: What time should I arrive?
A: We recommend 7:00 for the 8:30 race, though check-in will be open at 6 AM. First-time visitors to this race often underestimate the time it takes to get to Land O'Lakes. Arriving at 7 AM gives you time to check in, use the facilities, stretch and get ready for a race to remember!
