Event Overview
The 3rd Annual Cindy Horsmon Memorial Fun Run for Hospice is set to take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Horsmon Farm in St. Leonard. The event honors the life of Cindy Greene Horsmon, a beloved retired educator and community member who passed away in 2025 at age 59 following a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Cindy Horsmon dedicated 30 years to Calvert County Public Schools and was deeply loved by students, colleagues and the community. Her strength, kindness and commitment to others continue to inspire those honoring her legacy through this annual event.
We are grateful for the generosity of the Horsmon family as they honor their loved one. All proceeds from the run will benefit Hospice of the Chesapeake and our Patient Family Fund.
Why Participate?
All proceeds will benefit patients and families in Calvert County and our NEW Patient Family Fund.
The Patient Family Fund was created to provide one-time financial help of up to $1,000 to patients and families in crisis. It covers essentials like rent, groceries, utilities, or funeral expenses when no other resource exists. Our clinical teams help lead the program, ensuring needs are vetted and met.
Even as this program is launching, nurses and social workers refer more patients every week. Rising costs of rent, food, and utilities means many families simply can’t keep up with the needed supplies for their loved one. And, because insurance doesn’t cover these expenses, the gap between what families need and what’s available continues to grow.
We already give our time and hearts to Hospice of the Chesapeake in Calvert. The Patient Family Fund is another way to help our patients and their families—lifting worries no one should carry during life’s most tender moments.
