Background:   Since 2015, Dash to the Door, a 3-mile walk or 5K run through Beersheba Springs, has been our largest annual fundraiser. Beersheba Springs is perched on the bluffs of the South Cumberland Plateau and is surrounded by natural attractions of TN’s largest state park with waterfalls, scenic panoramas, walking trails and rock formations, including the Great Stone Door, our race’s namesake. For generations, many have come to Beersheba Springs for the beauty and unique community found here. Located in one of the poorest counties of Tennessee, many local residents can’t afford medical care. In 2010 the community established the Beersheba Springs Medical Clinic, a non-profit facility to provide medical services at no cost to an average of 1,000 patients per year from more than 17 counties. A dental clinic was added in June 2019 bringing much-needed services to the community. Donations and grants support the clinic. We just increased our operations from two days a week to FOUR days a week at the end of last year! Even with our expansion, we provide patient care and life-saving medication for each patient for just over $500 per year on average. We are proud to have an efficient and effective way of providing care through the support of our volunteer physicians and networks.
