The Donut Run 5K is the only race around where you are rewarded for eating donuts! This annual event will take place on April 25, 2026, at Ada Hayden Heritage Park in Ames, IA. Each donut you eat at the Donut Run 5k aid stations takes additional time off of your finishing time. Careful though--we enforce the Chucky rule which states that anyone who loses his donuts before the finish line starts his or her count over at zero!

We award runners in the following categories: Best Run Time (Men & Women), Best Donut Adjusted Time (Men & Women), Most Donuts Eaten & Best Costume.
