The course

From the organizer

The Elsey Mae Memorial Run is a 1-mile fun run and 5K held in loving memory of Elsey Mae Howland.

At just 17 months old, Elsey touched the lives of so many and will never be forgotten. This event is an opportunity for our community to come together to honor her life, support her family, and surround them with love during an incredibly difficult time.

The Howland’s chose to do a 5k run and 1 mile walk in memory of Elsey because when Sabrina was pregnant they would walk a mile every morning. Once Elsey was born they continued to walk the same mile. Eventually it turned into Sabrina, Everlee and Elsey walking a mile every morning before they would meet their best friends Kimmy & Franky and they would run a mile and a half. Every afternoon Brandon would take his turn and run with Elsey for 3 miles. Some days the whole family would run 3 miles together with Everlee and Elsey riding in style in the world’s crappiest stroller. Everlee and Elsey loved walks and Everlee loved riding her bike ahead of mommy and Elsey. They would put in multiple miles every day around their neighborhood.

If you have a stroller we would love to see you pushing it while walking or running with a child or no child. Young children are more than welcome to bring their little bikes to ride along side of Everlee in the Elsey Memory Mile.

There will also be a memorial event after the run/walk. Videos and Photos being played of Elsey and her family. A butterfly release in honor of her. Food and drinks in celebration of her since August (9th) is her Birthday month. Other details will be shared the closer we get to the event. So if you are unable to walk or run you can still come and join us celebrating Elsey Mae Howland’s Life.

Join us on August 22nd at Chautauqua Park as we celebrate Elsey Mae’s life and keep her memory alive.

Proceeds from this event will go to the Elsey Mae Memorial Fund, with donations made in her honor toward a meaningful need within our community. This year, funds will be donated to the Beatrice Public Library—a place Elsey loved to visit.
