From the organizer

The 40th Annual Hapi-ness 5K will be held on Saturday, May 9th at 9:00 am.  The Happiness 5K began in 1987, started by the 9th grade class of Laramie Junior High School in memory of their classmate, Hapi Patterson, who passed away from leukemia that year. Since then, this event has helped numerous families facing medical challenges and other hardships.

This year, we are honored to dedicate the donations from the Hapi-ness 5K to Brody Bowlds, who is a valued and cherished classmate in our school and a member of our Student Leadership team. Brody exemplifies the values of hard work, determination, compassion, and is inclusive of all of his classmates, demonstrating unconditional kindness everywhere he goes.

At the end of 2025, Brody was diagnosed with Leukemia. As he continues his journey to recovery, we have the opportunity to give back to someone who has contributed so much to our school culture and community. Even in his time of need, he is still showing his loving and kind personality to all of those he encounters at Denver Children's Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment and is awaiting a bone marrow transplant.
