HRCA Wildcat Mountain Trail Races

The Wildcat Mountain Trail Races showcase some of the most scenic terrain in the HRCA Backcountry Wilderness Area, giving runners a true taste of the rolling hills, open views, and natural beauty surrounding Wildcat Mountain. Each fall, participants take on two distances—a 10-mile and a 10K—designed to highlight the area’s unique, beautiful trails.

The race begins at the Douglas County East/West Trailhead at Rocky Heights Middle School and follows the E/W Trail into the Backcountry, linking directly into the Wildcat Mountain trails.

Our goal is to create a safe, welcoming introduction to trail running, and these short races offer the perfect opportunity for kids ages 0–12 to get involved. Registration is only $10, and every participant receives a finisher medal.

Distances vary by age to ensure a fun and manageable experience for all: Ages 2–4 run approximately 0.25 miles, Ages 5–7 run about 0.62 miles, Ages 8–10 take on roughly 1 mile, and Ages 11–12 complete a 2-mile course.
