From the organizer
The Murphy Scholarship is Leesville Road High School's first endowed scholarship. Founded in 2011 in memory of Leesville's first principal, Richard J. Murphy, it seeks to inspire incoming students by recognizing the best of our graduating senior class.
The major fundraiser for the scholarship is the Leesville Community Turkey Trot, presented by Murray Moyer. Our USATF-certified 5K race takes place on local neighborhood roads and serves as both a great volunteer opportunity and an informal reunion for Leesville alumni and families.
Whether you are running to win your age group & prizes or stroll & enjoy our fun "Roost Stops" along the way, we hope you can join us!
Course and Registration Information
This course is wheelchair, dog and stroller friendly. Please note there will be course monitors and a police presence but the roads are not closed and participants should yield to motorized and nonmotorized vehicles .
The course map is available at the following link: http://www.murphyscholars.org/uploads/1/4/0/2/140218680/certified_course_map.jpg
We encourage pre-registration for those who wish to be timed. Race day registration may be available if the race is not sold out; however, race day registrants will not receive an official time.
If you do not wear your race number pinned securely on your front midsection, the finish line officials will assume you do not want your time recorded or reported. If you do wear your number as directed, it is assumed that you consent for your official results to be posted publicly, including gender identification designation.
