His motto, which he routinely shared accompanied by a photo on every trek, was “If I can do it, so can you. ” Michael was tragically killed at age 71, along with his friend Christina Chung, in an accident in July 2024. His grandchildren, children, family, and friends wish to honor his memory with this annual event. Why 5. 12 K? In honor of Michael’s birthday, May 12 - and because he revered being a little different with measurements. All proceeds from this memorial event will be donated to the Michael W Leibowitz Family Fund, to support the charitable causes closest to his heart. Through these efforts, Michael’s generous spirit and dedication to helping others will continue to inspire and uplift those in need.
