Challenge yourself at the Blue Sky Ascent & Round Trip, a high-altitude mountain run starting at Echo Lake's 10,600 feet. Conquer nearly 4,000 vertical feet over 14.5 miles, much of it above treeline, to reach the 14,264-foot summit of Mt. Blue Sky. Choose between the one-way Ascent or the demanding Round Trip, which includes the descent. Prepare for thin air and breathtaking views on this memorable Colorado adventure.
What to expect
- Experience a significant high-altitude climb, starting at 10,600 feet and ascending to over 14,000 feet.
- Run much of the course above treeline, with expansive mountain views.
- Keep an eye out for unique spectators like Bighorn Sheep, Marmots, and Mountain Goats.

Although the air will be noticeably thin at the starting line, Echo Lake's 10,600 feet of elevation is just the beginning. The climb totals nearly 4,000 vertical feet - much of it above treeline - as you make your way 14.5 miles to the finish line located at the summit of one of the most recognizable peaks on Denver's mountain skyline - 14,264 foot Mt. There are two options in 2026: The Ascent is a one-way 14.5 mile climb from Echo Lake the summit of Mt. Blue Sky. the Round Trip is just as it sounds -- you will run to the top, then run back down.
