10:00am 5K 10:05am 1 Mi. Walk 10:45am AWARDS CEREMONY Please note, this is a rain or shine event! Welcome to the Second Annual Viking Turkey Trot! This year’s race is more than just a fun run — it’s an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on global health. All registration fees will be donated to Partners In Health (PIH), an international nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing high-quality health care to some of the world’s most vulnerable populations. PIH works in partnership with local governments to strengthen health systems, train local clinicians, and deliver care based on the belief that health is a human right. This Year’s Cause: Fighting Tuberculosis in Sierra Leone The proceeds from this year’s event will specifically support PIH’s efforts to combat tuberculosis (TB) in Sierra Leone, as TB continues to be the leading cause of death by infectious disease worldwide. By funding early detection, treatment, and prevention programs, we are helping save lives and stop the cycle of transmission in one of the world’s most under-resourced health systems. Partnering with Berry Nursing Students This year, our PIH Engage chapter has partnered with the Berry College Nursing Department to support students fundraising for their Global Health Service Immersion Trips to Kenya and Ecuador. These trips allow nursing students to work alongside local clinicians, strengthen cultural competency, and contribute to long-term global health initiatives. Why Global Health Matters Supporting global health efforts is not just about helping those abroad — it’s about building a healthier, more connected world. Disease knows no borders, and when we invest in health systems globally, we create a safer and more resilient future for everyone. By joining the Viking Turkey Trot, you are not only supporting the Berry College community — you are standing in solidarity with the global community and helping ensure that access to health care becomes a reality for all.
