The vibe (AI-assisted text)
This virtual 100-mile challenge is all about personal grit, giving back, and a touch of unique charm. It's designed for runners (and even equestrians!) who want to push their boundaries while making a tangible difference for youth. The vibe is one of shared purpose and individual determination, connecting participants through a common goal to support the Boys & Girls Club of Rosebud.
Race day (AI-assisted text)
As a virtual event, 'race day' is truly on your own terms, whenever and wherever you choose to log your miles. There's no physical start line or packet pickup; instead, you'll track your progress independently towards the 100-mile goal. The focus is on consistent effort over time, knowing each step contributes to a vital cause. It's a self-directed journey, fueled by personal motivation and the impact you're making.
Best for (AI-assisted text)
Ideal for ultra-runners, endurance enthusiasts, or anyone seeking a significant personal fitness goal with a charitable component. It's perfect for those who thrive on long-term challenges and want their miles to count for more than just personal achievement.
Personality (AI-assisted text)
The event carries an inspiring and determined spirit, blending the intensity of an ultra-distance challenge with the warmth of community support and a distinctly quirky twist. It's about individual commitment to a collective good, fostering a sense of accomplishment and generosity. The limited participant cap suggests a close-knit, dedicated group, possibly with some unique participants.
Weather snapshot (AI-assisted text)
Since this is a virtual challenge, your 'race day' weather will depend entirely on when and where you choose to complete your miles. You have the flexibility to run in conditions that suit you best, whether that's sunny skies or a crisp autumn morning. Plan your segments to align with comfortable temperatures and safe conditions in your local area.
Terrain & course feel (AI-assisted text)
As a virtual event, the terrain is completely up to you! You can choose to log your 100 miles on roads, trails, treadmills, or even a combination. This flexibility allows you to tailor the challenge to your preferred running surfaces and local environment, making it accessible wherever you are.

Looking for a personal challenge for you & your horse to tackle together? Join the ROSEBUD 100 Mile Challenge. The ROSEBUD 100 Mile Challenge is in honor of the youth of ROSEBUD Reservation in Mission, South Dakota. For each entry into the ROSEBUD 100 Mile Challenge, $5.00 will be donated directly to the Boys & Girls Club of Rosebud in Mission, South Dakota. The Boys & Girls Club of Rosebud state their Mission here:
"The Boys & Girls Club of Rosebud is currently the only afterschool program serving our reservation. Rather than one time events, we choose to focus our resources on providing consistency for our youth. We are the only center based, mentoring focused youth program on our reservation. We value our partnerships with excellent organizations such as Todd County School District, SDSU Extension Service, Sicangu CDC, Tiwahe Glu Kini Pi and Sinte Gleska University. Without our amazing volunteers, staff, and partners, we couldn’t do what we do."
Tracking Miles
If you'd prefer to track your miles on paper, in an app or on a calendar- that is up to you though you can also track online with us- not required to track online- completely optional. *If you choose to check the 'anonymous' option during your sign up, you will not show up in results. So if you would like to see your name in the results (miles count) and be able to add miles on this website, then please be sure to not check anonymous. We will help you in the facebook group, and have some videos to help you in the process.
Completion Award Swag
Earn a beautiful commemorative medal, patch and pin to go along with your 100 miles. We are creating a lovely medal to commemorate the miles you have journeyed together with your horse. No hour of time is wasted that is spent in the saddle! Price includes shipping to USA only, for countries other than the USA we have designed an embroidered patch that we will mail to countries outside of the USA.
The shipping of a medal internationally is cost prohibitive, though we can ship a cloth patch of the same size and design. If you are outside of the US and wish to do this challenge, please understand that we can have a patch for an award for overseas, though not a medal.
Your Challenge at Your Pace
You decide, ride a few miles every day or maybe divided the mileage into three days per week or a few short rides during the week followed by a few extra miles of adventure on the weekend. You set your pace, the days, the miles and if you aim for 25 week you will be finding yourself at 100 miles by the end of the month! Or you can add up the miles over several weeks! You decide what is right for you and your horse to create those 100 miles of memories with together.
Ride your horse, drive your horse, walk with your horse or do the challenge completely walking or running on your own. How you customize this Challenge is up to you. We hope you will check into our facebook group with photos, videos, mileage updates and screen shots of you miles, though you do not have to.
The Challenge is 100% based on the honor system, you and you alone are in charge of tracking the miles you cover, though we do provide a Free Mileage Log in the facebook group that you can print and use. Yes, we even have cyclists doing this challenge!
We are here to cheer you on, provide an encouraging facebook group and provide a beautiful completion award to commemorate your journey to 100 miles. And also for this Challenge, to band together for a great cause, the Boys & Girls Club of Rosebud.

Although this is categorized on this sign up page as a virtual race, the only winners are you & your horse spending time together gaining experience, fitness, friendship and miles. This is a challenge, not a race.
