From the organizer
The annual 5K run/1 mile walk benefits Stop the Suffering, a 501 (c)(3) based in Columbus, Ohio that saves animals from shelters and other situations in which their lives might be at risk. STS adopts out about 500 dogs a year, transports around 4,000 cats and dogs from rural shelters and puppy mills, to rescue organizations. STS also sponsors the vet care, boarding expenses and other costs when needed to help save an animal's life. Additionally, STS has a program that helps with many local municipalities spay and neuter programs in order to help control the pet population.
This is a rain or shine event. In the instance of severe weather it would be up to the race director to call it for the safety of all participants, volunteers, and vendors.
