The vibe (AI-assisted text)

This event carries a strong sense of purpose, as it's dedicated to benefiting the Red Shamrock Foundation. It's the 15th annual edition, suggesting a well-loved community tradition where runners gather to support a meaningful cause. You'll find a mix of participants, from those tackling the 5K for a good time to more serious runners pushing themselves on the 10-mile trail course.

Best for (AI-assisted text)

This race is ideal for runners who enjoy a trail challenge and want their miles to count for a good cause. It's also great for those looking for an established community event with both shorter and longer distance options, offering a chance to push limits or simply enjoy the experience.

Race day (AI-assisted text)

Expect a smoothly organized event with chip timing provided by Nonstop Race Management, ensuring accurate results for all participants. There will be distinct awards ceremonies for both the 5K (around 10:00 AM) and the 10-mile (around 11:15 AM), adding a competitive edge. While the 10-mile has a suggested finish time of 2.5 hours, the organizers are welcoming, stating they won't pull anyone from the course, which is a nice touch for those who might take a bit longer.

Personality (AI-assisted text)

The event has a warm, community-focused personality, driven by its charitable mission. There's an underlying spirit of determination, especially for the 10-mile trail runners, balanced with the inclusive atmosphere of a long-standing charity event. It feels like a supportive gathering where personal achievement meets collective good.

Weather snapshot (AI-assisted text)

Taking place in early April in Coralville, Iowa, you can expect variable spring weather. Temperatures could range from cool and crisp to mild, with a possibility of rain or even lingering chill. Dressing in layers would be a smart move to adapt to whatever Mother Nature brings on race day.

Terrain & course feel (AI-assisted text)

As a 'Trail Challenge' held at Coralville Creekside Park, expect a course primarily on unpaved trails. This likely means varied surfaces including dirt, gravel, and potentially some roots or rocks. While specific elevation isn't mentioned, trail courses often include rolling hills, adding an extra dimension to the challenge.
