The Great Jones County 5K Fair Race – “Race Around the Fair” Get ready to run, explore, and celebrate! The Great Jones County 5K Fair Race, held in collaboration with Monticello Parks and Recreation, offers a one-of-a-kind route that winds around the fairgrounds, past the livestock barns, and along the track, giving runners an early morning's taste of fair excitement. The course continues past the scenic Monticello Golf Course and through Riverside Gardens, showcasing some of the area's most beautiful outdoor spaces. We intend to have a chalked line throughout the course to provide a continuous course with more signs.

Whether you're aiming for a PR or just enjoying the fun, this race is a perfect addition to fair week festivities. Come run with us and experience the fair like never before! The proceeds from this 5K race will directly support adult programming and events in our community year-round.

This will be the second year of this 5k. Here's what the proceeds contributed to within the last year:

•Wellness opportunities: Adult Pickleball League with multiple divisions, Sit & Get Fit, Older Adult Self-Defense, Tai Chi, Murph Training

•Outdoor Adventure Series including kayaking, boating and hiking experiences

•Learn to play: Pickleball, Mahjong

•Walk & Learn Series – Birding, Foraging, Historical Walks

•Community Events: All-Star Moms & MVP Sons, Movie Nights in the Park, Coffee & Cards, Senior Socials, Line Dancing

•And so much more!

Participants can walk and/or run. Chip timing will be provided by B & W Racing. Entry to race will include a complementary ticket fair entry and another surprise!

Fair Ribbons will be awarded to the top 3 male/female in each race and age category (9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and older)

Online deadline to receive a T-Shirt is July 3, 2026
